Visiting the Cosmic Mother at the Beautiful Om Shakti Temple

A young man was selling sugar cane juice. It was freshly made with a machine that squeezed the sugar canes flat and thereby released the juices that people drink. I asked him about the temple across the street. He said it is the Om Shakti Temple and gave me the temple hours. I thanked him and continued on my way back home.
Om Shakti Mantra
While walking and repeating the name of ‘Om Shakti’ a few times so I would not forget the name, I suddenly felt this energy embracing and saturating me that gave me one of those big smiles and huge shining eyes. The energy peak lasted for about five minutes and faded away just before I was entering a grocery store. I love those moments when this happens because it is energizing, uplifting, and a confirmation that there is more to life. I don’t have an explanation why it happened except that it was a blessing and perhaps in a mystical way Mother was calling me to visit her at the Om Shakti Temple.
Eventually I went to visit this temple, a temple consecrated to the Cosmic Mother in the form of Adi Parashakti, the Primal Energy beyond which there is only the formless Sadashiva. As parts of the open mandapam are the ten wisdom goddesses or aspects of Cosmic Mother installed. The ceiling is designed with three three-dimensional lotus flowers. No one spoke English. I will go again.
Darshan of Cosmic Mother
When I was finally able to go again I had darshan of Mother who resides in the garbha mandir and is attended not by a priest but by women dressed in red saris, the sanctum that is closed off to the outside with wooden doors that are locked during off hours. Two ornamental openings in the door give a small peak of Mother for the ones who have missed darshan time. What a gem!
Om Shakti is the powerful and compassionate Cosmic Mother. On one occasion I visited I had a different energy experience that had me feel my body was simply a mass of energy. My form felt so light, I felt any moment I would melt like butter.
