Peace Prayers in Tenrikyo

Living the Joyous Life

Tenrikyo is a Japanese religion founded in the 19th century by Nakayama Miki. It emphasizes joyous living and the concept of “hinokishin,” which means selfless service. Followers believe in healing through faith and practice rituals to promote happiness and well-being. The religion teaches that God, known as Tenri-O-no-Mikoto, wishes for humans to live a life of joy and help others achieve the same.

.

Peace prayers in Tenrikyo seek divine guidance for inner joy, harmony, and the well-being of all humanity, based on the teachings of Miki Nakayama.

Tenrikyo does not have “official” peace prayers in the same way some other religions might, but it has set rituals and prayers that include themes of peace and well-being. Central to Tenrikyo practice is the “Service,” which involves set prayers, songs, and dances expressing gratitude and seeking blessings from Tenri-O-no-Mikoto for the happiness and harmony of all people. The “Mikagura-uta” (Songs for the Service) and the “Osashizu” (Divine Directions) include prayers and teachings that emphasize living in harmony and cultivating inner peace.
